Skin Detoxification Key to Radiantly Glowing Skin

A radiantly glowing skin is beautiful and manufacturing companies and advertising agencies keeps drilling this in our brains especially women hence, the boom of various beauty products in the market today. The truth is the skin says much more about you than just how beautiful you are. A clear, radiant skin is a sign of healthiness and a toxin-free body. Blemished, sallow skin on the other hand can signify harmful toxins being ingested but not properly detoxed from the body. Here are some skin detoxification steps you can do to start you on your way to achieving that healthy, glowing skin you’re dying to have:

Detoxification Step 1: Cleanse Out Toxins

Water is the key to detoxification. It not only delivers nutrients to our cells and keeps our kidneys functioning well, but it also aids in the body cleansing and detoxing of wastes and toxins. Alex Jamieson, a holistic health counselor calls water in her book, The Great American Detox Diet,as “the toxic avenger.” Without enough water to help the body cleanse out the wastes, the body is basically like a pool of poisons, resulting in many kinds of health issues including skin problems. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water everyday to have glowing and healthy skin. And by water, this really means clean, tasteless water! The body needs water and this is the most fundamental thing of all in detoxification programs.

Detoxification Step 2: Start Your Day with an Antioxidant Berry Drink

Antioxidants are highly beneficial to the skin, as they help protect the skin from environmental damage and prevent premature aging. So make sure to have a glass of antioxidant berry drink every morning or at lunch time in your detox diet. Just make sure that your diet cleansing berry drink contains a variety of berries or antioxidant-rich fruits, and has no added sugar or preservatives. Some of the antioxidant-rich fruits that you can consider in your detox diet are blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, pears, cherries, pomegranates and plums.

Exercising for at least 30 minutes everyday is another detoxification step you should do in order to have a healthy glowing skin. There are no specific exercises to do it can be anything at all that you’d enjoy doing: jogging, gardening or playing Wii sports. The main idea of this detoxification step is to increase your blood circulation, relax your muscles and most importantly, cleanse out excess toxins through sweating.

Detoxification Step 4: Dry Skin Brushing

The skin is the body’s largest organ for cleansing out toxins and wastes, though sometimes your pores can be clogged. As a result, your skin will look rather lifeless, dull and rough.
The purpose of skin dry brushing as a detoxification step is to slough off the outer layers of the skin, allowing the pores to breathe and detoxify more effectively. It’s a great daily detoxing and cleansing ritual to do!
Use a vegetable-fiber bristled brush, preferably with a long handle to help you reach hard-to-reach areas on your back. Brush all over your body (except your chest and face) for about 10 minutes in a circular motion when your skin is completely dry. Use just enough pressure to make your skin feel cleanse and glowing. Then jump into a warm shower or bath.

Detoxification Step 5: Detoxifying Bath

Another detoxification step you can do is to have a detox bath once a week to cleanse toxins and pamper your skin. Just add the following to warm bath water: 1 cup baking soda (to help neutralize the acids in the toxins), 1 cup Epsom salts (to cleanse more fluids and toxins out of the skin), 5 drops lavender essential oil (gentle antiseptic), 5 drops chamomile essential oil (anti-inflammatory and antifungal) and 5 drops lemongrass essential oil (skin revitalizer).

Detoxification Step 6: Detoxify by Sauna

As mentioned earlier, sweating is an important part of the detoxification process as it is a way where we cleanse excess toxins from the body. So go to a sauna for your skin detoxification once a week. It not only helps cleanse toxins, but also increases flexibility in your muscles and blood vessels.
